June 11, 2013 - Rice Castle and StepDragon bicycles

Today I woke up later than usual.  We didn't do much before lunch.  So after lunch we went to the Rice Castle.  At the Rice Castle we saw all of the tools to grow and harvest rice.  We also saw the machines to process and package rice.  At the end of the tour, we had some rice-based ice cream, rice/oatmeal drink, and coffee with rice.  The coffee was good.

After the Rice Castle, we went next door to the StepDragon Bicycles warehouse.  It was very large.  My dad was looking for a road bike and the sales guy named Johnny took us to the section with lots of road bikes.  My dad found a small road bike just about my size.  Road bike seats are not very comfortable.  Then we found a unicycle-type bike with training wheels.  Darren and I got to ride it around the warehouse.  You have to lean into the direction you want to turn.  I fell many times.

After the warehouse we went to McDonald's for small snack.  The furniture was very modern.  The food we had was corn soup and chicken wings.  I thought it was better than the one in America.  On our way to another bike store, we found a food vendor that was selling salty pancakes filled with egg, mushroom, corn, celery, and basil.  We got four of them and they were really hot.  They were also really delicious.

After the bike store, we passed an egg custard factory and they gave us one egg custard each to try.  Since it was so good, we bought 9 more.

Then we went home and drank rose petal tea that we got from Top City last week.

  1. Holy moly, that egg custard looks like it is awesome. How was it? I love egg custard but have a hard time finding a good one.
Rice Castle looks fun. I was just wondering what processing rice would look like.

    1. The egg custard was crispy and soft. Rice Castle is pretty fun. The rice has to get separated from the rocks, then they dehusk it, then they get sorted by color.

  2. Did they show how they do the new thing where you don't have to rinse the rice as much at home?
