After a night of rest at my grandparents’ house in Taichung,
we drove to one of the most famous tourist spots in Taiwan, Sun-Moon Lake. When we got to the visitor center, it started raining so we started looking at the pottery. By this time, it was raining hard so we ate lunch. I had 1 and 1\2 tuna sandwiches. After lunch we drove to Wenwu Temple. I got my fortune told by a machine -- something about wealth and fame coming early.... We also got to light incense sticks and offer them to the Gods of Literature and War, and Confucius.
Later we parked at the bottom of the trail up to the Ci-en Pagoda (the "ci" is pronounced like "ts"). We hiked up the pathway to the pagoda and saw many creatures along the way. When we got to the pagoda we found out it was closed, but there was a great big drum that I played with the help of my dad.
On another hike down to the lake, Darren found a stick caterpillar. When I picked it up on a twig, it straightened itself out and really looked like a stick.
On our drive home, we stopped by an old train station in the city of Jiji. We saw the old steam engine. There was a store/restaurant, whose interior was made entirely out of cardboard or paper. We wanted to check it out, but when we got to the door, the shopkeeper flipped the sign to "closed".
Finally we had dinner at a shabu-shabu hot pot restaurant near home. I had lots of lamb and a dou-hua dessert with brown sugar syrup.
